A WEEK IN MY GARDEN 14 MARCH
Hello, and welcome back to my garden on this gloriously sunny Friday, or at least it was at 8 o'clock this morning when I took these photos. By late in the afternoon we were treated to dark clouds and the odd splash of rain, but not enough to drive me and Mr B indoors - for we are made of sterner stuff.
The first picture is of the woodland garden also jokingly referred to as 'the Arboretum'. I love it this time of year before the weeds get going when there are early spring flowers like these hellebores along the path.
The daffodils are 'February Gold'.
That's most of the pretty stuff this week, now for the gardening nitty gritty. Do you love photos of seed trays? Thought so. Here's the tomato seedlings in the greenhouse. It's all so full of promise this time of year. All those gardening dreams just waiting to be fulfilled with just a little bit of effort and preparations.
Preparations like cutting back the clematis and giving them a feed of Vitax clematis food. It has quite a strong manure smell, so it must be good!
Mr B's preparations include destroying shrubs and trees and then not clearing up after himself.
Seriously, he's doing a great job trying to get some more light into the rose garden shown here, and has reduced the height of the hollies as well as crown lifting them.
Meanwhile, up in the Knot Garden it is time for some serious weeding. Due to the drainage ditch which floods into this part of the garden, it gets an incredible amount of weed and grass seeds washed into the borders. At least I have a pretty robin to sing to me while I do the weeding.

And now for the after photo. Still a fair bit to do though.
I think that about covers all my garden news for this week. I will just finish with a couple of pictures of primulas, just because they are pretty. In the first photo I've potted some up as if they were auriculas and displayed them on my etagere.
That's all for this week. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again next week.
You did well to cross out the words: "before the weeds get going" because we are already invading. Have you sown a lot of different varieties of tomatoes? Mine are at about the same stage here, but I bring them inside because it's a bit too cold in the greenhouse at night right now ( 6 varieties + 1 cherry tom )
ReplyDeleteI’ve sowed Stupicke Polni Rane (a new one for me), Tigerella (new to me but I’ve heard of it before!) Gardeners delight and Black Russian. Mine are on a heated map and under cloches. I expect they would prefer to come indoors at night but that’s not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteYour display of potted Primulas on the etagere look very impressive indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you. One of the varieties is a Belarina double which I’ve split to make three plants and the others are just the ones I liked most from a multipack.
DeleteThe Arboretum is lovely, what a glorious spot! Yes a strong manure smell, always a good thing hahaha.
ReplyDeleteThe more it smells the better it must be!
